Prof. James Hone is co-PI on MURI Grant to explore Graphene
05/15/2009
An interdisciplinary team of Columbia researchers has won a major collaborative research grant from the Department of Defense to develop new materials technology. The $1.5 million a year grant (for five years) is shared with Cornell University researchers and is led by Principal Investigator, Professor Richard Osgood of EE. The research team will explore unique properties of graphene, a one-atom-thick crystal of pure carbon similar to graphite found in pencils or graphite lubricant. Prof. Hone is one of six Columbia senior researchers on the team.
